First Observation
Today was definitely one of those teaching moments where I thought, "Well, this could have gone much better, but this also could have been much worse." I was observed during a guided reading group, focusing my teaching for the Pink group on the main idea. One of my favorites, Ady, was a little not herself this morning. During observations I think it is important to remebmer that they are their to help you and provide you with feedback that will allow you to become the best you can be, but at this moment I was not sure what to think. So what happened? I made sure that all distractions were removed, that consequences were made, and provided opportunity for her to be a leader. I learned today how important it is to know your students. Not every student is the same, and not every "punishment," or a better way I like to put it, consequence will work the same for every student. By knowing Ady, I will be able to be able to better understand her needs and provide her with a consequence that clearly demonstrates that her behavior was inappropriate. She is a great student, but her actions were not so great. That is why we need to love our students.
